Next Steps to Join The Tubman Travel Project
Step 1: Complete Your Background Check & Make a Donation
Your first step will be to complete a background check. This helps us maintain the safety of our Freedom Flyers and uphold the integrity of our mission. We require that our volunteers complete this background check through a secure online company called Checkr. This allows all of us at Tubman to focus on what truly matters, without the added layer of concern that is a reality in today’s world.
In addition, as part of our commitment to building a future where the work of reproductive freedom is enduring, we ask that everyone who steps into the Tubman vision make a tax-deductible donation of any amount. This action embodies the movement of the future—one that will become self-sustaining through its own efforts. By seeding this foundational work, we aim to transcend the need to rely on outside sources to accomplish the transformative work we envision.
Step 2: Attend Our “North Star” Overview Session
Discover the heart and soul of The Tubman Travel Project during this inspiring one-hour online session with our founder, Rev. Erika Ferguson. Held twice a month, this session is designed to share our Big Vision and Big Vow to build the reproductive movement of the future. Learn how you can play a pivotal role in turning our “Vision and Vow” into action.
P.S. You’ll also hear some amazing and inspiring stories, and there’s usually time for a Q&A!
Step 3: Personalized Connection with Our Team
Typically about one week after attending the overview session, our Tubman Champion Lead Volunteer will reach out for a one-on-one “Connect Fit” call or coffee. This is your chance to share your passions, explore opportunities to get involved, and find your unique fit within our transformative movement work.
Step 4: Your First Assignment or Next Steps
After your Connect Fit session, you’ll receive your first volunteer assignment or a personalized roadmap outlining your next steps. This ensures you’re fully supported and equipped to make an immediate impact, starting within a very short time period.*This step can always be at your own pace and happens when you’re available and ready.
