Founded by Rev. Erika Ferguson, and currently based in Albuquerque, New Mexico, our mission is to ensure that women in no-access states have a safe, caring, supportive, and seamless transformative travel experience, accompanied by others in an open and connecting environment as they access the reproductive healthcare they want.
We have developed a proven model of complete wrap-around one-day travel care, providing full accompaniment in intimate small groups to those who want to travel for reproductive abortion care.
Our purpose is bigger than politics, policy, or anyone with power.

How It Works
One Full Day, Start to Finish
We’ve streamlined the process so your travel and care can happen in just one day. From your departure in Texas to your return, we’ll make sure everything is planned and taken care of. You’ll fly to Albuquerque, where you’ll receive your abortion care at one of the five trusted clinics we partner with. Afterward, you’ll have time to rest, recover, and prepare for your journey home.
We Handle the Details
Traveling for an abortion can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to do it alone. We take care of your flights, local transportation, and scheduling so you can focus on yourself. Whether you’re coming on your own or as part of a small group, you’ll never feel isolated or unsupported.

A Proven Plan
Imagine never having flown on a plane before, never having been to another state, not knowing anyone, and trying to get a medical abortion. Feeling alone, stressed, and nauseous. Now you have an idea of why the Tubman Initiative exists. We know this initiative works because we have been implementing it since the laws in Texas went into effect. From that time until now, we have supported 400+ women in traveling out of Texas and into New Mexico to receive the medical abortion care they need and want. Our priority is to ensure each of our Tubman travelers has a life-affirming and life-changing experience.
